Welcome to Burton Dassett Gardening Club

Covid 19 update July 2020: The Gardening Club Committee have regretfully had to take the decision to cancel the AGM and evening meetings for the rest of 2020.

We have taken this decision for a number of reasons:

  • We are aware that quite a lot of members would not be comfortable to meet others inside
  • Our planned speakers are not happy to provide talks in an enclosed space
  • Knightcote Village Hall is not open at present and if it does open, because of social distancing requirements, would have a greatly reduced capacity (as would other local Halls). This would make hiring a speaker poor value for the Club, even if people wanted to come and we could find willing speakers.

As things stand at the moment it also seems unlikely that we will be able to meet for our annual social event at the Moon and Sixpence in January 2021. We still have speakers booked for March and April 2021 and had provisionally arranged a potential garden visit in May. The Committee will review the position in January and decide then if it might be possible to go ahead with these meetings and the May visit.

BDGC is a small friendly club for keen gardeners of all levels of experience.

We currently have members from Burton Dassett, Northend, Knightcote, Fenny Compton and other local villages. We meet at 7.30 pm in Knightcote Village Hall on the second Monday of the month, from September to April, with guest speakers on a variety of horticultural topics. In the summer months we organise visits to local gardens and occasionally arrange coach trips to visit gardens further afield.

You don’t need to be an expert to join us. Our club is about making gardening interesting, maybe learning some new things and having a bit of fun along the way. Even if you are an experienced gardener, we will have topics to interest you as well as inspiration from garden visits.

Benefits of membership include affiliated RHS membership giving club members access to RHS offers and advice, and discounts at two local garden centres.

Guests are always welcome at our evening meetings. Just come along – we’d love to see you or contact us via the form on our contact page.
