Garden visit Placketts, Adderbury June 11th 2018

Our June visit to Adderbury was, once again blessed with lovely weather and a good turn out of members enjoyed the late evening sun and cake and drinks in this small, but beautiful garden.

Our knowledgeable host Dr White also showed us his party piece with his Dictamnus plants, the ‘Burning bush’. These plants produce a menthol like vapour in the warm weather which can be ignited and burns off quickly leaving the plant untouched.

Other noteworthy plants included the amazingly coloured “Violetteblau” rose on the wall, a lilac flowered Abutilon shrub, a wonderfully knobbly contorted Hazel and the beautiful “Bowl of Beauty” Peonies to name but a few.

All of this topped off by the Adderbury Ladies Morris Dancers practicing outside the garden, who could ask for more?!
